MORE POISON IN THE WELL

The Guardian

20 March 2000

Alfred Sherman (Letters, March 16) puts forward the tired old myth that the break-up of Yugoslavia was the fault of the Croats and the Germans. The EU recognised Croatia only after Serbia had annexed and ethnically cleansed a third of Croatia. Who can blame the Croats for going for independence? If England declared it's intention to create a "Greater England" at the expense of Scotland, I'm sure the Scots would declare independence pretty damn fast.
