Liberal Democrat News No. 744 - 21 February 2003
Liberal Democrat News is the weekly newspaper of the Liberal Democrats, Britain's third largest political party. The following appeared in its letters page:
In regard to the party stance on Iraq, I am concerned that we are putting such faith in the United Nations.
Our stance - on anything - should not be determined by the United Nations. This is an organisation tainted by genocide and corruption. UN personnel in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina colluded with the Serbs in war crimes, most infamously at Srebrenica. Being the most uncritical 'pro-UN' party associates ourselves with that.
Our stance on Iraq should be entirely determined as to whether we consider war to be necessary or not. Supporting the UN is seen as sitting on the fence - for which we have rightly been ridiculed.
