CHRISTMAS AND TURKEY

Denis MacShane says Britain should have prevented Croatia being "prematurely" recognised by Germany (On Turkey and sandwiches, December 21). Germany only recognised Croatia after it was one-third occupied, with Vukovar destroyed and Dubrovnik bombarded. When would MacShane have recognised Croatia? After the Serbs finished the job?
